Privacy Policy

This policy explains what HMU ("we", "us") collects when you use the HMU iOS app or heyhmu.link, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect what the product needs to work and keep you safe, and we never sell your personal information.

What we collect

Account information

Your username, display name, profile photo, and birthday. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier (and email, if you share it) Apple provides.

Content

The messages, photos, voice notes, and song picks sent through the Service, and the prompts you post on your link. Anonymous messages are delivered without revealing the sender's identity to the recipient.

Technical and safety data

Device push tokens (to deliver notifications), IP address, approximate region derived from it, and browser/device information. We use these to prevent abuse: rate-limiting, spam prevention, blocking enforcement, and investigating reports.

Purchases

Subscription status is processed by Apple and our billing partner RevenueCat. We never see your card details.

Analytics and advertising

With your consent (Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt), the app shares limited event data (such as installs, registrations, and purchases) with Meta to measure our advertising. If you decline the prompt, this tracking stays off. You can change your choice any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Tracking.

Song search

Song searches are sent to Apple's iTunes Search API to find results; we don't attach your identity to those queries.

How anonymity works

Recipients never see who sent an anonymous message. However, our systems retain the technical records described above so we can enforce our Terms, act on abuse reports, and comply with legal obligations. Anonymity applies between users — not against safety review or the law.

How we use information

• Deliver messages, notifications, and the rest of the Service;
• Filter, review, and act on objectionable content and abuse reports;
• Process subscriptions and prevent fraud;
• Measure and improve the product and our advertising (with consent);
• Comply with legal obligations.

Sharing

We share data only with the service providers that run HMU — Supabase (database, storage, authentication), Vercel (hosting), Apple (push notifications, payments, song search), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Meta (ad measurement, with consent) — and when required by law or to protect the safety of our users. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and deletion

You can delete individual content from your inbox at any time, and delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account), which removes your profile and content from the Service. We retain limited records where needed to enforce our Terms, investigate abuse, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes, and then delete them.

Children

HMU is for users 18 and older — the app is rated 18+ on the App Store and asks your age at sign-up. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 is using HMU, contact us and we will act promptly.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Email us and we will honor verified requests: kushal2001apple@gmail.com.

Changes

We may update this policy as the Service evolves; material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
